Cheryl Lynn was born March 11, 1957, in Los Angeles, the cousin of soul singer D’La Vance. Somehow her one hit (“Got To Be Real” went to #12 in 1979) snuck in the midst of the many disco orientated hits of that year. The song’s very funky sound owes much to the two measure drum pattern shown below. This is very funky stuff.
