Roy Orbison was always at his best when singing wistful ballads. Although his biggest hit was a rocker (“Oh, Pretty Woman” in 1965), Roy had plenty of lovelorn songs in his repertoire, like “In Dreams,” a Top Ten hit in 1963. A recurring theme of Roy’s songs was the comfort of dreams, as opposed to the sometimes harshness of reality. Playing tip: play the snare drum part: R RR L L R R L R.
