The Doobie Brothers were a dominant part of the West Coast rock scene in the 70s, along with the Eagles. Like the Eagles, the Doobies boasted several lead singers, which contributed to their diverse sound. “It Keeps You Runnin'”, the group’s tenth charted single, features the soulful vocalizing of Michael McDonald. Drummer Keith Knudsen plays this deceptively sparse part against a second, sequenced drum part, which you can hear in the fIrst two measures.
