A rock’n’roll classic, “On Broadway,” a Top Ten hit for the Drifters in 1963, was co-written by two of the top writing teams of that era: Cynthia Weill & Barry Mann, and Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller. If rock’n’roll had a golden era, this song surely typifies that era. It is interesting that this whole production of guitar, bass, trumpet, and strings is held together with this simple pattern. The castenet part can be substituted by a snare rim click.
