Of the several groups aspiring to dominate the heavy metal vacuum created by the demise of Led Zeppelin, the California-based Motley Crue garnered their fair share or attention at this time. Following their successful appearance at the 1983 US Festival, this cut from the album of the same name has all the hallmarks of heavy metal: searing guitar licks and vocals, punctuated by drummer Tommy Lee’ s double-barreled syncopations. Many thanks to Ron Kerner, one of my drum students, for his collaboration with me on this chart.
