One of the all time anthems to summer fun, the Drifters’ “Under The Boardwalk” was recorded under stressful conditions, to say the least. The group’s lead singer Rudy Lewis died the morning of the recording session! The Drifters had endured a steady succession of lead singers that began with the great Clyde McPhatter, and peaked with Ben E. King. When Lewis died, Johnny Moore, who had served from 1955 to 1957, stepped in to sing this classic.

I have been using the Classic Rock Drum Charts collection for many years. There is nothing better to practice and rehearse to, than these charts transcribed by James Morton.Michael Sheahan
