From the 1964 film soundtrack of A Hard Day’s Night, “You Can’t Do That” was written by John Lennon, inspired by singer Wilson Pickett. The song was the B side to “Can’t Buy Me Love,” one of the many number one hits that year. By this time, the Beatles were proving that even their B sides were great.
